Another 2 more weeks have passed since I last blogged.

The driving course schedule is so packed these days, with consecutive tests day after day. Haha. But on the positive side, I managed to pass all my theory tests this week. Had a little problem with lashing and HSP on the 1st attempt but thank god, I managed to pass them on my 2nd attempt. Passing all the theory tests just means that Ill have alot of free time during the theory slots to do extra parking training and Reading.

Just completed reading "Wages of Sin" by Stephen Coonts this week and found out that the book had also been published under the title of "Liars and Thieves" LOL. 1 Story but published under 2 titles. WOW!

Ok moving back to the topic on driving. Somehow, i seem to have a little problem parking the class 4 vehicle because of the blindspots of the vehicle. In the past 4 attempts, I failed 3 times - 2 of which were due to hitting the poles which serve as the barrier of the parking lot. The only encouraging fact is that I managed to pass on my last attempt yesterday. Hope to keep up with the good improvement this week or else Ill be screwed for the upcoming parking test.

The Class 3 Phase of my course is over and Ive also passed the assessment to certify me to drive the Class 4 vehicles. This means that I should be able to drive Civilian class 3 manual and automatic vehicles without much problems. But unfortunately, I do not have a Class 3 civillian license yet. For the past week, Ive been driving the class 4 vehicle on the public roads.

Although driving the vehicle itself isnt as hard as I had initially feared, the road users make the driving hard for me. As I had mentioned in my earlier posts, Singapore roads are infested with many inconsiderate and selfish drivers who do not know the meaning of courtesy and give way. Whenever they see a big vehicle with a L-plate and speed limit, they just overtake in very unsafe ways without giving way so that they wont be held behind. Imagine them even trying to overtake in the slip roads. WTF! The space is like so small and yet they try to squeeze through. And this prevents me from exitting the slip road even if the traffic is clear on the road that Im going to turn into because the back of my vehicle, which is a blind spot, may hit into them.

Ok, maybe this explains my frustration while driving on the public roads.

2 more weeks to my final driving test!
And I seriously hope i do not fail as a result of other inconsiderate road users.

Till then, its more and even more driving on the public roads.

NEW BLOG SKIN once AGAIN!
Had to change to this new skin from the older one although it was nice because the navigations and display were quite screwed.

Well, its been almost a month since I last updated my blog. Currently Im on my Class 4 Driving course at Sembawang Camp. Book outs are on Saturday afternoons and Book-ins are on Sunday nights and thus I get very little time out of camp, leave alone time to on the computer and update my blog.

Driving is actually quite fun. Atleast its not as physically demanding as BMT. Haha. But driving a vehicle yourself definitely isnt as easy as seeing a third person driving. And things only get worse when you move out of the driving circuit to the public roads because the presence of many inconsiderate and impatient drivers make the roads a very dangerous place. Besides there are also pedestrians dashing across the road and motorcyclists cutting into your lane as if they own the road. And you have to watch out for them in order to drive safely.

Well today was only my 2nd day of driving on the public road. Theres alot more to learn and experience before I eventually pass out of the course. If everything goes well, the earliest Ill pass out will be 14th Novemeber. But rumours have it that HSP and TP tests are only passable after a few attempts. Lets see how it goes for me. Haha.

As for the past 2 weekends, didnt really do anything other than Deepavali shopping with my parents and going shopping for 2nd Hand books at Bras Besah. Reading is definitely a good pass time to keep yourself occupied with during the freetime in the course. Haha. And although I mentioned Driving is not very physically demanding, it nevertheless is still tiring. So having a good rest over the weekend is also quite important.

This weekend's extra special because its going to be longer than usual. Book out was today afternoon and book in is on Sunday night - meaning that I get 2.5 days out of camp. Tomorrow is Deepavali and Sunday is my birthday. A double celebration in a single weekend. Lol.

Ok thats about it for now.

NEW BLOGSKIN
NEW BLOGSKIN ONCE AGAIN!
Since I didn’t have anything much to do at home during my 3-Day MC from last Thursday till today, this was the result. Haha.
Hope the readers like it!

In other news, unit life is coming along quite well.
But I’m already missing those BMT days in Pulau Tekong. No, it definitely cannot be the people - its more of the daily training schedule. I miss those physical activities that wake me up in the morning, make me lose weight and become a more energetic person.

My Class 4 Course at Sembawang starts next Thursday.
The 8-week course is stay-in and so no more daily book-outs for me.
Though many people were reluctant to go for the driving course within 2 weeks of completing BMT, I looked at things otherwise. Since my course is predicted to end in the 1st week of December, it’ll definitely give me the opportunity to go on a vacation and enjoy the December holiday season. Plus I’m also entitled to 5 days of off after completing the driving course.

The only bad thing is that running and jogging is completely banned during the course. So, lets hope I don’t gain too much weight. After all, I still have my personal goal of passing IPPT in the next 2 months. Lol.

Driving is something very new to me but let’s hope I pull it through.

My source of motivation - Civilian Driving license after I have clocked sufficient mileage.

Ok. Thats about it for now.
Peace Out -

Block leave came and passed by like a cold breeze blowing past me.

Well, I couldnt have expected much out of it especially since it was just a mere 5 days. And of those 5 days, 2 days were stolen away by guard duty.

Today was my 1st day back at unit. Back to that same old place at Selarang. Like it or not, I have to accept that this is going to be my unit for the upcoming 1.5 years of my NS life. So Id better start finding some joy there. Or else, those 1.5 years are going to end up as gloomy as my BMT.

Ok, back to the main point - Block Leave.

Thursday, 17 September 2009

Today was my rest day, spent at home sleeping and recovering from the 24Km route march the previous day. Having so much rest in a single day seemed like a luxury after completing BMT. Haha.

Friday, 18 September 2009

Time to get out of the house and enjoy my block leave. Left home at around 10.15am to meet up with the section 4 people at Bugis for lunch. Didnt have enough time to check my posting before leaving home because the results were only to be out after 10am.

Once I reached bugis, I met up with Justin, Wei Jie, Sam and Yifeng. Lunch was at KFC - Fast food at last. While eating, everybody was complaining about their respective postings, especially those people who landed up in the guards camp. By then I too had found out that I would be returning back to Selarang beacuse my unit had requested for me to return. Although there was this disappointment of not being able to go to SISPEC, there was also this relieve that I hadnt been posted as a guardsman.

After lunch, we walked around Arab Street and Haji Lane to do some window shopping. But unfortunately, most of the shops hadnt opened yet. I still dont get the reason behind going shopping at that area. Maybe it was just to show Singapore to Yifeng. Haha. We hung around the area till about 1330 before heading back to Bugis MRT station to take the train. The rest of them alighted at Outram to meet up with some others while I went all the way till Clementi station to take 156 to CJC.

I had to return back to school to collect my SGC. Hadnt collected it since June because of BMT, where all my weekdays were spent staying-in at camp. Reached school at around 1515. While collecting my SGC, I found out that I actually wasnt the last guy to collect the SGC in my class. Lol. Once I was done at the office, I met up with Elton, yahui, CY and charmaine at the foyer. They had just completed the final Biology Paper 1 of their preliminary examinations. It was just a year ago when I was in their shoes. Haha.

Elton, Yahui and I went to the canteen to get a drink and talk for awhile before leaving for home.

In the evening, I had to follow my parents to the temple. Quite a tiring day on the whole.

Saturday, 19 September 2009

Most of the morning was spent sleeping at home. Like yeah, its block leave and most people wouldnt want to wake up as early as at camp just to go out and have fun right.

I was supposed to have met Ferdinand, Adler and Cheng You at City Hall MRT at 12.30pm but the 80 took alot longer than expected. Therefore I ended up being 30minutes late - Paiseh. Once i had gotten there, we walked over to Marina Square for lunch. Lunch was at McDonald's. Yeah Fast food again but block leave is the time to indulge in the good food before having to taste camp food again. Not to over eat and grow fat of course - that is why i did not upsize the meal!

After lunch, we stayed on in McDonalds to share our experiences in the army over the past 3 months. For Cheng You, his admin job, for ferninand, his class 4 driving course and for me and Adler BMT at Pulau Tekong. We stayed there till about 3.30pm before deciding to walk around Marina Square to do some window shopping. At 4pm, Cheng You, Adler and I left the area for City hall MRT station. Cheng You and Adler took the train while i walked further to New bridge Rd to take 851.

Once I got home, I barely got an hour's rest before having to pack the items for my guard duty that night. Left home at around 8.30pm for SFT. Book in ferry was at 2300.

Guard Duty. On a public holiday. Sian.

Monday, 21 September 2009

Booked out at 1000 and got home by 1130.
The rest of the day was spent resting at home.
Guard duty was indeed quite tiring because I couldnt get sufficient rest that night

Ok thats about all for my block leave!
Today was Day 1 back at my unit.

POP! POP! POP!
Peeee - Oooo - Peeee Loh!
The anxiously awaited end finally came!

15 Weeks of intensive physical training at Tekong has finally rewarded me with this one wonderful day of happiness. Somehow, yesterday made it seem that all the tough training (including the 24km route march the previous night) that I had endured and undergone over the past 3.5 months was worth it. Of course, The biggest reward still remains as slimming down! haha!

Well, its block leave now - for a mere 5 days!
And even within those 5 days, Ive got guard duty at Tekong this Sunday! Haiz. Too bad, there werent anybody else who could do it since they had either done guard duty before, were muslims celebrating Hari Raya or going overseas for a holiday.

Postings will be out tomorrow morning at 10am.
I seriously have no clue of where ill get posted to but I heard that there is a high chance of going back to my previous unit - which is somewhat good news for me!

Ok, thats about it... till my posting that Ill know tomorrow morning!

1 more week to POP week!

Just cannot wait for the day to arrive man, especially since im currently not even in talking terms with my sectionmates. But maintaining silence ever since the big argument last thursday has proven to be a smarter and peaceful option. Ok, i shant dwell on this issue because i dont want to run it through my mind all over again!

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Book out was all that I looked forward to in the entire week and it came on Friday at 1900! Once I booked out, I had dinner with section 4 at Superdog at Whitesands mall. You just can’t resist all the delicious food when you book out from Tekong. Lol.

We stayed there till about 2030 before leaving for home. While I was on my way home on the 109, something very unexpected happened. Yahui suddenly called me and asked if I was free to go over to Serangoon Gardens to join in the T30 class gathering. My answer was yes, although I was already very tired and just wanted to get home. Well how often do I get to meet up with my JC classmates right! I probably haven’t met up with them in the past 6 months. Haha.

I took 109 all the way till Yio Chu Kang Rd and transferred to 73 to Serangoon Gardens. Amazingly, I was able to reach within 20 minutes of Yahui’s call. Met up with Yahui, Natoon, Elton, Tim, Lee Xian, Eirene, Baby, Rosh and Jia Yii at the market opposite Chomp Chomp and that was when I discovered that the gathering was to celebrate Elton’s birthday. Happy belated birthday to Elton!

Most of my classmates were very surprised to see that I had slimmed down a lot – I had lost about 12kg since our last gathering in January. Chang Yong seemed so shocked when she spread the news to Ryan over the handphone. Lol. After all, BMT had done me some good! Haha.

Unfortunately, I had already eaten dinner at Pasir Ris and thus I wasn’t able to join in for a meal with them. Soon, we had Elton’s belated birthday party – cutting the birthday cake that Yahui had bought for him. The cheesecake was very nice and thanks to Yahui for giving me an extra slice. After that, we started catching up on how each of us had progressed in life after the A level examinations – for the guys, National Service and for the girls, University studies or work.

Soon we decided to shift over to McDonald’s so that we could enjoy the comfort of the air-conditioning there. However, it was getting late I had to leave for home to dump all my dirty clothes into the washing machine. Hence I left Serangoon Gardens at around 10pm.

Today’s gathering was just too short man! Hope we can meet up sometime soon for a longer duration yah? Haha.

As for today, I stayed home for the major part of the day to complete the 3 essays that had been given as homework from camp. Even the army gives homework for that 2 days that we get to spend at home. Sian.

In the evening, I met up with Meng Hwee for dinner at Toa Payoh. Joash was supposed to have joint us as well but he couldn’t make it in the last minute because his church event dragged on longer than expected. Dinner was at Botak Jones, near SPH. The western food there was damn good – having such a dinner won’t make you feel guilty when you know that you have trained hard for the past week at camp.

After dinner, we walked back to Toa Payoh interchange so that we could have more time to talk. Then we took 163 home.

Book in less than 24 hours away!
Here we go again… The same all shit again! Ciao.

2 more weeks to POP!!!
Thats real goood news for me man!

Doing BMT with a poly batch in a very xiong coy isnt easy at all!
Right from the start, I could see that there were so many differences between them and me in terms of lifestyle. So I just tried my best to adjust and befriend them for the 4 months at tekong!
But now I realise that even that wasnt possible.
Just because Im much younger than everyone there and Im from a JC doesnt mean that they have to see me differently and pick on me and nag at me all the time right?

I was a relatively successful JC student (other than my screwed up A level results) and my JC friends can testify this statement for me.So I dont see the need to change my character just to get along with these poly people.
If they cant accept me the way I am, then to hell with them!!!
All of this just makes me miss my previous BMT section even more! haiz!

I think i get along better with my commanders than my platoon mates WTH!
Just so depressing man!

As for the weekend, nothing much.
Actually it really sucked!
Book out for less than 24 hours, that too in this screwed up weather while the others got a extra long 3-day book out.
Even the clothes cant dry properly in time!
Re-sit test really burnt my long weekend! Haiz.

Anyway its book in time again
2 more weeks to freedom...
Ciao!

Week 10 of my BMT is over.
4 more full weeks of training and the last week is just 24km route march and POP.

I finally booked in at 1330 on wednesday afternoon after being on Att C for the past 9 days (+ 2 more days of the national day weekend, which makes it 11 days out of camp). The redness in my right eye is yet to have cleared completely but i cant afford to miss more training than i already have. On a positive note, i was able to adjust back to camp life immediately after i booked in. But on the negative end, i was still on light duties till yesterday, when the coy booked out.

Since we had been on an excursion to the Singapore discovery centre, we had to book out from there directly. Wow, that place was real far away man! Haha. Took me around 1.5 hours to get home from there by bus.

As for the weekend, Didnt really spend time going out with my friends because I wanted my eyes to heel totally - and that needed ample rest.

Book in today at 1655.
Finally I can resume training after a 2 week rest.
Wont be surprised if I have to do remedial training this weekend.

Ok ciao!

Walk to my grave along with your heart ? 3:03 PM

1 week of staying at home and not being able to go out legally. And therefore yesterday and today was devoted to outdoor enjoyment..

Oh yah i forgot to mention - my 4 days of Att C got extended for a further 3 days on wednesday because the redness hadnt completely cleared yet. Thus, I didnt need to book in to tekong for the whole week. Bad thing was that i missed one whole week of training at camp.

Yesterday was the 9th of August. Singapore's 44th Birthday and my mum's birthday as well. Hence i stayed home to celebrate my mums birthday in the morning and watch the national day parade on TV in the evening. My mother had cooked a wide variety of delicious food items for the special occasion - Yum yum but that means more excercise at camp in the upcoming week. The national day parade of this year was great - i thought the performance items were very well sequenced. At 8.22pm, it was time for the whole nation to take the national pledge. A momeent to remind up that we are still Singaporeans, no matter where we may be! The only disappointment was the tone down in the fireworks display as compared to the display of last year.

Well anyways,
Happy Birthday Singapore and Happy Birthday Mum!

As for today, it was a very long day spent going all around Singapore. Ang Mo Kio, Thomson, Orchard and Pasir Ris in the morning and Paya Lebar in the evening.

Woke up early at around 8.15am to meet Joash and Meng Hwee for breakfast at the Thomson Rd Prata House. We were supposed to have met at AMK station at 9.30am but I was 10mins late - my bad! From there, we took 130 to the Prata House. Although its been 1 year since I last went there, the pratas were still as good - especially those egg and cheese pratas. The milo dinosaur was great as well. Once we were done with breakfast, at 11am, we decided to go over to orchard road and walk around.

We took 162M to orchard and the first place that captivated us was the newly opened ion shopping centre. But too bad, there was nothing much to see over there - I think the place is more for those shopaholic girls who are very psyched up on fashionable dressing. Haha. Therefore, we decided to catch a movie at Lido instead. Not much luck there as well because nearly all the seats for the 1-2.30pm shows had been sold out. The only seats available were those of the first row. Past experience had thought me never to choose first row seats for a movie at Lido unless I wanted to break my neck. Hence, we abandoned to idea of watching a movie too and decided to go over to Pasir Ris since Meng Hwee and Joash had to go to a barbecue around the Paya Lebar area at 5.30pm.

We took 5 instead of the MRT. After talking cock for about 30mins, we decided to sleep for the rest of the journey. Meng Hwee and Joash must have been tired from yesterday's 28km Route march. The bus ride took about 1hour - as fast as the train! Once we got to Pasir Ris, I had to leave for home to take my eye medication. Took 109 home. Lol.

In the evening, Joash suddenly messaged me, inviting me to his T31 class barbecue since alot of people had decided not to turn up in the last minute. Lol. It was indeed a last minute plan that I had to try and fit into my schedule for today. I only decided to go after completing my packing for tomorrow's book-in.

Left home at 8pm. Took 156 and transferred to 24 to get to Paya Lebar in a record 20mins. Joash and Jagan met me at the station and brought me over to the barbecue venue where I met Jia Foo, Meng Hwee and Jun Feng. There was alot of excess fried rice, satay, fried chicken and drinks. Good Dinner, Haha.

After clearing up the place, Joash, Meng Hwee and I left at 10pm. Since we all agreed upon taking 854 home, we walked from Paya Lebar station till Eunos Station. Seems far eh - but it took less than 15mins. Either the army has trained us up well or the 2 stations are just too close. Lol. Talking cock takes away half the pain as well. Once we got to the busstop, Joash decided to take 966 since it goes directly to Woodlands. Meng Hwee and I waited 15mins for the 854. A bendy bus came after a very long wait. The aircon on the bus was super cold man. Haha. Finally got home at around 11.15pm after a 20min bus ride.

Book-in tomorrow morning at 1130 after my Medical appointment at CGH.
Seriously, Att C is like a drug man. Once you take it, you just get so addicted to it that you keep asking for more.

But seriously, I hope I will not get a further Att C after my medical appointment tomorrow.
Enough training has been missed already and there is alot to catch up on.

Really tired now. Better get to bed early. Need to leave home by 7.00am tomorrow morning for CGH.

Good Night!

Its just so amazing to see how much life has changed over the past year when i look at my older posts from last year. It was just a year ago when i was still a student at CJC and where only books and going out with friends to have fun made sense to me!

And now... Its been months since i took up a book to do some serious studying and its just so hard to find the time to go out with my close friends due to the different book in and out timings of the various units. Every activity that I engage myself in these days are geared towards building up my physical fitness and training me to be a soldier. After my 2 Years of NS... life will take a turn once again. Things just move by so quickly eh?

Well anyway, its been nearly 2 weeks since I last blogged. Field Camp is over and Sit test could have been over too, if I didnt have to report sick for Right Eye redness. Field Camp was tough and therefore Im glad that its over, with me having completed it successfully. The 5 day wait to get back to civilisation nearly killed me but that very craving served as motivation to survive all the outfield training. Haha.

Week 9 of my BMT has just begun. Re-sit test and more physical conditioning aimed at training our IPPT skills lies ahead of me for the next 6 weeks before I can embark on my 24km Route March for POP. Currently Im on 4 days of Att C (Stay home and rest) for my Right Eye Redness. The Eye specialist at CGH was supposed to have given me 7 days but I decided to shorten it to 4 days so that I will not miss out that much on training. I must try my best to attain a pass for my IPPT so that I can go to the unit of my choice. The only station in my way - Standing Broad Jump! Why do I have to be so short man! Damn it!

Its also been 2 weeks since I met up with any of my friends - mainly due to the shortage of time and me having to go to CGH to check up my right eye. Meng Hwee and I have been postponing our trip to the thomson road prata house for the past 2 weeks already. May there be sufficient time in this subsequent weekend, especially since its the
